BODY: | [6-FEB-2009] SKI TRIP TO PAOLI PEAKS!
This past Monday, my brother Bryan and I took our older children for a ski outing with a local homeschool group. We left our place around 5 in the morning and arrived a little after 9 at Paoli Peaks in Paoli Indiana. After checking in and getting our lift tickets, we headed over and picked up our boots and skis. We didn't get done doing that until around 11:00. Bryan and his kids had skied there before so they hit the slopes. Since it was Bethany and Caleb's first time, we went through a lesson with a very good instructor (Mr. Dan) along with Joey. The lesson lasted about 1.5 hours after which the everyone wanted to go by themselves. We decided to eat lunch before letting them go.
After lunch Bethany and Caleb spent a lot of time on the bunny slope and made friends with another girl that had gone through lessons with us (Ann and her little sister Virginia). I tried to take Caleb and Joey on the Family trail right after lunch but that was too soon for Caleb. He fell down a lot and couldn't get up. By the time we got to the bottom he was frustrated. We went back up and he spent the rest of the afternoon on the bunny slope where he learned to get up himself. After supper I video taped each of Bryan's children going down the Family Trail. Joey was the last one and he did great. He made it all the way to the bottom and didn't fall but he couldn't stop and skied right up to the lift as it was coming around. It was just too funny. The boy that was waiting (which Joey knew) was not expecting anyone else to be riding the lift with him. We left the slopes around 9:00 and got home right around midnight. We all had a good time!
Bryan and Molly left yesterday to visit my older brother in Pensacola Florida, which leaves me with the chores! I've been getting up at 5:00 to milk the cows. The weather should be warming up a little so that will help...
